Exhibition commission
This 1:75 tall ship model was built for a maritime exhibition. The curator’s brief asked for a historically faithful silhouette, so the rigging plan and sail plan were both documented from period sources before any wood was cut.
Rigging the tall ship model by hand
Sails are hand-stitched from real cloth with visible seam lines, and the complete standing and running rigging is individually knotted — a process that takes our riggers more than 100 working hours per model. Brass cannon, deck fittings and the ship’s boat are all scratch-built.
Final presentation
The hull uses plank-on-frame construction, so the wood grain remains visible under the final varnish, exactly as on the original vessel. The tall ship model now hangs suspended in the exhibition hall on custom steel rigging points we supplied, with a spare-parts kit held by the museum.
